The friend network

I'm happy to see that so many friends have chipped in to help out J. Thirteen days ago I set up a gift account at Munchery so that friends and family could help pay for meals for J and her family if they so choose. It did not occur to me to do that until S reached out to me and asked how could she and our friend network help. They want to help, but they don't know where to best help. I've been wrestling with this same question as well. At the least, if they didn't have to worry about their meals, that would be something. J and her family hired someone to come in and cook meals three times a week, and of course her parents help out on the weekends, but that leaves some gaps still. Once S sent the word out, it was amazing to see how many old friends reached out to help. As I write this, the total in the account is $3,025. That's just from her friend network in two weeks. I think with that amount the family's meals should be covered for the next twelve weeks, which is how long the chemotherapy is supposed to last at a minimum. There is a possibility it will be extended by three or six weeks, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
To everyone who has donated, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate it. J appreciates it, and her family appreciates it too. Once chemo started, the fatigue set in, and the only thing J needs to focus on now is healing. All of this helps.
For posterity, and for those who may yet want to help, here's the munchery link.
